Sweet Fried Puffs/Sweet Pathiri





Ingredients:

For Dough:
 
  • 1 cup  All purpose flour (Maida)
  • 1/4 cup Semolina (Sooji)
  • 1 tbsp melted Ghee
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Warm milk to knead
Note: You can use any of these fillings. Here we wont get Poppy seeds so i used green gram fillings...
 
For the Filling/Stuffing(green Gram)

  • 1 cup dry Coconut
  • 1 cup (abt 3.8 oz/110 grams) melted palm jaggery(karuppatti)
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1 cup green gram

For Poppy Seeds Filling:
 
    • 1 cup (abt 3 oz/80 grams) dry Coconut
    • 1 cup (abt 3.8 oz/110 grams) powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
2 tsp Poppy Seeds, white colored
2 tbsp mixed nuts, finely chopped (and raisins)
 


 

Method:

For Filling:

Pressure cook the Green gram with a pinch of salt by adding around 2 cups of water. Drain the water and keep it aside.
Melt palm jaggery to remove all impurities.

 
In a pan add ghee and the grated coconut, mix well.






Add the cardamom powder and the green grams to the pan.


Remove from heat and allow it to cool. Make some small lemon sized balls with green gram mixture.



 
 
 


For Dough:

Combine plain flour, atta, salt and lukewarm water to make a soft dough.

Roll out gooseberry size of dough…and roll like puris.


Spread the filling on a rolled out pathiri and seal the edges Repeat this for all the pathiris…

Heat oil for deep frying. Fry the pathiris one by one, till it becomes golden brown…

Yummy sweet Pathiri is ready to serve.
